CCDA launches New Website and Communication, Knowledge Management, and Visibility Strategy to Enhance Climate Action in PNG

Port Moresby, 29 July 2025 – The Climate Change and Development Authority (CCDA) officially launched its new Website and Communication, Knowledge Management, and Visibility (CKMAV) Strategy on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the CCDA Office, located at the Enchie Building, Ground Floor, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea (PNG).

The launching event announced two transformative tools that strengthen CCDA’s role as a knowledge hub for climate governance, transparency, and public engagement in PNG.

The launch event was officiated by CCDA’s Acting Managing Director Ms Debra Sungi alongside European Union’s Head of Cooperation Mr. Hans Lambrecht; Expertise France’s Country Director, Ms. Emilie Mignot; and Project Manager of the EU-Funded Forestry-Climate Change-Biodiversity (EU-FCCB) Programme’s national component implemented by Expertise France, Mr. Alaric
Vandenberghe. Senior government officials, development partners, and civil society representatives will also present. “These platforms reflect our belief that the people of Papua New Guinea deserve access to timely, accurate, and relevant climate information,” said Ms. Sungi. “Transparency builds trust. And trust builds action.”

The newly redesigned website offers an engaging and user-friendly interface tailored to policymakers, partners, researchers, and the public. Key features include:
Regular updates on national climate policies and programmes,
Progress reports on project implementation,
Accessto climate research, data, and success stories,
Public engagement opportunities, and
Acentral knowledge-sharing hub to amplify community voices.

The CKMAV Strategy outlines a structured approach to strengthening CCDA’s internal and external
communications. It aims to:
Improve visibility and outreach of CCDA’s climate actions,
Enhance evidence-based planning through stronger knowledge management,
Promote inter-agency collaboration and development partnerships.

Aligned with PNG’s Vision 2050, Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and international climate agreements such as the Paris Agreement, the strategy reinforces CCDA’s leadership in delivering inclusive and informed climate action. The EU-FCCB Programme, through its national component implemented by Expertise France, provided technical support for the development of the website and the CKMAV Strategy.

“This launch marks a significant achievement in ensuring climate knowledge is accessible and actionable,” said Ms. Emilie Mignot, Expertise France Country Director. “By strengthening communication, knowledge, and visibility, CCDA equips PNG to lead inclusive and informed climate action.”

All stakeholders and members of the public are encouraged to explore the new website and join efforts to share climate knowledge across the nation.
